Reclaim + Redesign Your Clothes: Beginner Friendly Upcycling Workshop
March 12 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm PDT
Ready to give new life to the clothes already sitting in your closet?
Join Ali, founder of Ascension Society, for a hands-on beginner-friendly upcycling workshop where you’ll transform an old graphic tee into a custom patched statement piece.
This workshop is perfect for those who know the basics of sewing machine use and want to start applying those skills creatively.
✂️ What We’ll Cover
Sewing Machine Refresher

We’ll start with a quick review to make sure everyone feels confident: Threading your machine. Loading the bobbin. Adjusting tension & stitch settings. Basic stitch practice + backstitching.
Upcycling Project
Then we’ll move into our transformation project: Cutting your graphic tee into a patch. Applying adhesive & aligning your patch. Sewing your patch onto your garment (Ali’s favorite stitch techniques).
You’ll walk away with a redesigned garment that you cut, placed, and sewed yourself.
👕 What to Bring
• Your sewing machine
• Thread + bobbin (bring the color you want to use; contrasting thread looks amazing!)
• One outerwear piece to redesign (Suggested options: Flannel, Lightweight hoodie, Zip-up, Button-down, Denim jacket. (Please avoid extra-thick or heavy fabrics)
• One old graphic tee to cut up and repurpose.
If you don’t have something in your closet, consider grabbing a few items from your local thrift shop beforehand.

• Take-home worksheet with step-by-step instructions.
