SD Fixit Clinic in Alpine

We have been all too accustomed to the throwaway lifestyle. If something doesn’t work, throw it out and buy a new one. Because of this behavior, our landfills are filling rapidly, and electronic waste has become one of the largest pollution generators. So why not learn how to fix it?!

Bring your broken, non-functioning things: electronics, appliances, computers, toys, bicycles, clothes, etc., for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. We’ll provide workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to disassemble and troubleshoot your item. Whether we fix it or not, you’ll learn more about how it was manufactured and worked. This is a family-friendly event: children are heartily invited!

SD Fixit Clinic will be collaborating with I Love A Clean San Diego, who will be hosting a Clothing Swap. Update your wardrobe before the summer season and help divert textile waste from our local landfills!   Find our Clothing SWAP this Saturday, August 5th at the Alpine Branch Library for our second Sustainable Saturday event! Bring your gently used clothing items to exchange for other items for free. By participating in the swap, you will be  helping to conserve natural resources  Reducing the environmental footprint of producing new goods, Building community

This event is fun for the whole family, so bring your kids! We are expanding rapidly and will host events all over San Diego County.
