The Zero Waste Symposium was first held in 2013 to spotlight local green businesses, programs, policies, and local government zero-waste initiatives.
At every Symposium, you can expect a rapid fire, eclectic lineup of local, national, and international speakers who share their expert knowledge on all things zero waste. Topics we’ve covered in past symposiums include Zero Waste Communities, Zero Waste Businesses, Food Waste Reduction, Surplus Food Donation Resources, and Organics Management. We also host breakout sessions for networking and discussions for all attendees, plus so much more.
We now collaborate with Zero Waste USA to offer zero waste associates certification classes for our Symposium attendees. Attendees will be eligible to receive a discount rate to attend a series of certification classes through Zero Waste USA, the National Affiliate of the Zero Waste International Alliance.

We have been all too accustomed to the throwaway lifestyle. If something doesn’t work, throw it out and buy a new one, right? WRONG. Because of this behavior, our landfills are filling rapidly and electronic waste has become one of the largest pollution generators. So, why don’t we just fix it?!
Our San Diego Fix-It Clinic is a pop-up event with skilled volunteers that help fix the community’s broken stuff.
Inside the Fix-It Clinic, we help you fix what’s broken so you can reduce waste! We also provide the technical breakdown of the importance of zero waste practices where you work, live, and play. This common sense breakdown helps educate local government and policymakers on how to manage zero waste plans for the future of the community.
It’s fun, productive, and helps the local community get into the habit of sustainably managing our resources, one fix at a time!
